Registered 9/7/75 this 2200Automatic in Almond has been owned by one family from new and was only taken off the road in June 2010 when MOT expired, upto then was used everyday. Good driver. The car has always been professionally maintained and in recent years has had various works carried out as follows:-
1993 New wing panles and a complete respray
1998 New Torque Converter
2004 Repair work to sills and lower door panels, Near side floor welded
2005 New Master Cylinder, Brake Servo, Water Pump, Carburettor rebuilt with new seal kit and front suspension joints replaced
2007 Alternator replaced and rear suspension De-Dion elbows replaced.
In 2010 the car failed its MOT because of a leaking rear caliper.
The cars needs attention to the bodywork, rear wings and lower doors but is otherwise in good condition. Sills are all good.
The mileage on the clock is 9200 but this is incorrect as the counter is not working, the car has donealot more miles. The clock is a replacement and not original.
The owner is looking for a reasonable offer and a good home for her family treasure. GARAGE CLEARANCE. Ally bonnet from early Rover 2000TC. No dents but in dire need of re-spray. Sound insulation missing. Lost interest in classic cars after discovering motorcycles, paint is poor and bodywork isn't great, black boxpleat leather interior, front seats & rear centre rest have split, beige headliner/ carpets. left wing mirror head missing (fell off) some rust here & there, heavy duty tow bar , some history, new engine servise kit from JR Wadhams which I nevre got around to fitting. also have a front right side panel in primer - bit rusty on the inside though as it was stored outside. Rev counter doesn't work, some other minor niggles, extra manually operated aftermarket radiator fan, exhaust header manifold blowing, haynes manual, good spares vehicle or project car, strong engine (healthy pressure) and transmission. Six previous owners, the last one being a Vicar who changed the cars colour from its original Monza Red to Almond Yellow during his ownership - it featured on the cover of Classic Cars in February '97 in this guise, since then its had repalcement doors and wings from another car (a '75 V8) hence the colour change, this work being done by Colin Gould of Kingsdown Classics near Swindon, who looked after the car for many years. Comes with a stack of old MOTs and bills going back to 1976. Body / paintwork very nice, the only blemishes are a mark on the o/side rear door where some kind soul has knocked against it with their door, a small mark on the front edge of the bonnet and some bubbling around the circular badge on top of the boot though this hasn't spread at all since I bought the car. None of these marks detract from the overall appearence and I've just added some close up photos of them to the above link. The door bottoms are fine, I had two of them done when I bought the car last year. Chrome is good all round too. Interior is tidy with some discolouration to the tops of the seats, usual P6 problem. Also the stitching has come away at the front of the drivers seat base (see photo). And the clock actually works! A very nice usable P6 with plenty of work already done - just wants to be driven and enjoyed. This car has been in the family since new. There is 50,000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Unfortunately I had to take the engine out to do some work, The machine shop that rebuilt the head did sub par work. Now the head is refurbished and ready to be put back on the block. Twin SU's have been rebuilt, polished and stored in plastic bags. The car has virtually no rust and has been painted bare metal up with every panel taken off the car. The fuel tank has been boiled out and lined. Brand new Michelins. I do not have the time or place to work on this car anymore.
