Chassis Numbers for UK registered tax exempt P6's

Chassis Numbers for UK registered tax exempt Rover P6's

Information reproduced with kind permission from Heritage Motor Centre

Notes:

1. The starting chassis numbers for 1973 for all Rover, Range Rover and Land Rover models only apply to right-hand drive, home market models. For all export models whether right-hand drive or left-hand drive, only the Heritage Motor Centre will be able to provide a dating certificate. Vehicles assembled abroad from CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits can typically not be dated in the absence of any records.

2. Rover vehicles were not built in consecutive chassis number order, therefore for each model listed below, two chassis numbers have been quoted. The lower number is the first number used in 1973. The higher number is the last number used in 1972.

It therefore follows that:

(1) Any chassis number lower than the lowest number quoted is probably for a 1972 car.

(2) Any chassis number higher than the highest number quoted is probably for a 1973 car.

(3) Numbers in the overlap bracket between the two numbers quoted may be for cars built in either 1972 or in 1973
